Do something... do anything and I'll flip you some cash. Dance, Sing, read poetry, Tell Jokes, wash windows (even poorly). If you're gonna stand there and hold your stupid sign you can suck it. If it reads, "god bless." I might even laugh.
My favorite was this dude that had to be 170 kg. He had a boom-box and he was jammin'. High-kicks, moon walk, et cetera. I pulled over and watched a while, soon I gave him $10.
I have to work for every dime that I have. Why doesn't everyone else? I know, I know, if they're truly mentally ill or unstable I understand; but we also have programs for them already. If you simply don't want to work for "the Man" at least do something.
Central Texas is another hot-spot as the weather and University are pretty kind places for bums.
I don't know that I've ever been pissed-off by them though. I'm just glad I ain't them.

Panhandlers piss me off!
by Nosferatu inyesterday, my brother and his son were in town visiting.
me and the wife decided to go out and get some pizza to bring back for supper.. when we pulled up to the pizza shop, a guy came up to the car window and gave us his sob story about how he had cancer removed, how he refused to stay in the homeless shelter, and presented a stack of papers stapled together along with his mb health card.
he asked for any change that we may have.

Three Days At The Convention...
by Justice-One ini'm back from sitting through three days of the most mind numbing dribble you can imagine.
the worst part was looking around and watching as the good little automatons took it all in.
the only fun i had was doing my "mission.

Good Job! As I said before, the guys/gals outside telling of the "truth" is what got me to thinking that something wasn't right. Hopefully you reached some poor kid who is ready to bolt too.
.mp3? Man how awesome is that idea?!? I have 12,000 songs, 34 days worth. I could go to a couple of Conventions. I would carry one of those old beater tape recorders so that people would think that I was recording to listen later... yeah, supposing I needed an emetic.
Again, great work. By the way, did you ever post your final edit? I used yours for another post where someone was considering going back JW full-force. -

I have to say that I don't know a soul in these pics. I do, on the other hand, love the fact that they all look like a bunch of cool, normal, life-loving, non-weirdo, down-to-earth folks that I will enjoy chatting with. I could see myself hanging out with each and every one of you.
Man am I glad that I found this site. I'm having a great time! -

Power of Prayer Demonstrated
by Carmel inlast night i took one of my daughter's highschool friends to the rodeo with me since noone else was interested.
we had a good time with the freebee vip tickets, barby and then the rodeo.
before the first event there was a half hour of pagentry which was okay, but it was interrrupted by an "invocation" by one of the local baptist ministers.

Graduate students or ex-grad students on this board?

I hold a BA in Biology and an MBA with an emphasis in Telecommunications and Finance, but I still can't remember any good jokes.
I would buy the 5%. I went to a KH while in college just to see what had changed. Mostly all that had changed was that every kid was "home" schooled and every kid there had aspirations only of going to Bethel. None did anything outside the group. -

Is becoming a witness the right thing for me
by marketman ini've been struggling for quite some time now about continuing my exploration of the jehovah witness faith.
i am a "cradle" catholic and have been very involved with the church.
i started to become disillusioned several months back with all of the tradition, habits, and teachings of the church--which i began to seriously doubt.

I remember listening to a guy at an assembly for a while until one of the elders from my congregation scooped me up. I was interested in the what the dude said as it seemed to make some sense of all the stuff that the JWs teach.
This is another thread that you may want to check out.

This is one post from love2Bworldly that I really liked.
Dedicated to People Seeking Bible Truths
This article is written for the enlightenment of people who are seekers of Bible knowledge and is based on experiences of persons who have at one time or another been involved in such a search. Sadly some of these people have totally lost faith in God and the Bible due to being ensnared by false religion.
(This is dedicated to people who have been hurt by religious cults)
These are examples of ‘unwritten’ rules of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (WBTS). Some are rules expressly forbidden by the WBTS; some are rules that are supposedly a ‘conscience’ matter; some are rules by church elders who have personally decided what may be a ‘stumbling block’ to other Jehovah’s Witnesses, some rules are ones that change from one geographical location to another. People have been shunned, disfellowshipped, or ‘marked’ (marking is when people are not allowed to socialize with anyone who has broken a WBTS rule) for being involved in the following behavior:
* Studying the Bible by itself, without using the Watchtower Magazine
* Questioning any JW doctrine from a Biblical standpoint
* Questioning the many failed prophecies and dates of the WBTS
* Questioning decisions made by church elders
* Studying older vs. newer publications of the WBTS due to the fact that church doctrine changes every so often, which is called ‘new light’
* Making any unfavorable comments in private, about the WBTS
* Not attending & preparing for 5 hours of meetings weekly
* Not turning in a monthly record of hours spent door-to-door
* Speaking to inactive JW family members or friends
* Having non-JW friends or marrying a non-JW
* Attending weddings/funerals/services that are held in a non-JW church
* Accepting whole blood transfusions; partial blood transfusions are ok
* Sexual practices and/or positions between a husband and wife
* Attending parties; choice of music
* Being involved with any activities at the YMCA, even swimming
* Participating in school sports or attending Proms
* Playing certain games such as chess
* Cannot do Karate, wrestling or any related sports
* Pursue education further than high school
* Be a Notary Public, work at government agencies (requires government oath)
* Purchase a political party card in certain countries even if it brings death to one’s family; however bribing officials with money is overlooked in the country of
If your Bible-trained conscience would like more information or if you are just curious about this religion, use the Internet to research Jehovah’s Witnesses. There are many websites designed to enlighten people as to the spiritually and emotionally destructive nature of the Jehovah’s Witness religion. Many people are unaware of the many rules they are expected to live by until after they were baptized into this religion, a rather under-handed tactic. -

There are some good things regarding the camaraderie and working together toward one common goal but then it gets too inclusive.
Ask how they feel about you continuing to hang out with your current friends that will now be classified as “worldly.”
Here’s a quick list of things to which you can say good-bye
Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/whatever
Birthdays
Smoking, if you smoke, but you should quit anyway
Halloween
Easter
Veteran’s Day
Memorial Day
Labor Day
The kind of sex you have with your spouse
R-rated movies
Most internet

Your kids having a normal life: no friends, no sleep-overs, no sports
Your kids going to College
Why are they so against your associating with anyone or anything outside the church?
If you can deal with the separation of things that you’ve known then JWs may be the ones for you. -

Welcome Senor from a fellow noob.
almostathiest is right. I've learned so much from people that didn't go to church or even think about Jah. They're just normal, down-to-earth folks that will treat you as well as you treat them.
I wish you well in stopping the madness; hopefully we'll be able to help. -

Whilst in a mosh pit at a Revolting Cocks show. I saw them Thursday night with Ministry... What a great freakin' time I had. I know I’m old and all but man it was awesome. Hadn't seen them since '88. I'd like that... Or can I be the pale horse of the Apocalypse?
By the way, get natural people, moo sha rooms is the way to go.
Most importantly, if the Big A did happen, I think that I’d have a lot of apologizing to do for laughing and calling the JWs a pack of raving lunatics all these years.
By the way, where is the mention of Dinosaurs in the bible? They were here before man. Did A & E come but fade away and come back? I never see a huge T-Rex in the pictures of the garden of eden... Only the lamb and the lion.
